We will have to start implementing a hard limit of 3 full length e-mails to long distance adopters. The initial kitten application will not count but any questions longer that take longer than 10 minutes to answer and any request for additional pictures on top of our generous website and blog photography and 40 page backyard breeders and why we are different content. A final warning e-mail will be sent from now on that any further communication will be considered a non-serious adopter and no longer get a reply. Individual request for pictures or videos not on the blog sent only to the requester are not honored. ALL picture and videos go up to the blog, increasing the interest in the kitten.

This does not apply to just one person, as we currently have over 6 long distance adopters asking us for hours of e-mails a week, directly reducing the care we can provide our young kittens that need life saving twice daily weigh ins, tube feeding when dehydrated, and bottle feeding if not gaining enough weight. We also grind 30 pounds of raw food a week for our cats on top of feeding them raw three times a day plus can food feedings and any individual feedings for picky eaters. This does not even include the time my family and special needs daughter requires of me. We do know that many of our “serious” long distance adopters are in communication with other breeders in the US, meaning they are not even serious in their inquires to adopt “only from you”. And trust me, if you tell a breeder with international wins that there are no good breeders in Washington state, it will get back to me, especially when we both go to pick up our international awards.

If after hours of communication by e-mail you are unsure of your decision, this is not the kitten for you. Further information will cross over into up selling a kitten, a direct violation of our breeding philosophy. We NEVER want an adopter to take home a kitten they don’t absolutely adore. We understand this is a difficult and costly decision to make, but if you reach this point there is nothing to be done but to schedule a visit, long distance or no.

Please understand that this is done for the health of our babies and you. Over 90% of our actual adoptions take place locally, even after multiple years of international breed winners and with our cats up on the TICA website when looking up our breed. The 10% of real long distance adopters are generally satisfied with our long standing public reputation, verifiable show records, documented health testing, no cage policy, the massive amount of information I freely provide on my website, and have funds to fly in and pick up their kitten in person.

Remember, I am happy to refer you to a local option, but I only refer people who achieve Quadruple Grand Champions and Supreme Grand Champions within one year of showing a cat. Healthy cats can achieve this in 3-5 shows with most regions having 1-2 shows a month usually within driving distance.
